About me

Hi, I’m Mikhail.

I’m currently a senior software engineer, building performant microservices for a global e-commerce company. While I work primarily on the backend these days, previous stints have included heavy doses of infrastructure, data, and frontend work.

I graduated from Cornell University a few years back with my M.Eng. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I spent 2 years doing end-to-end product design and thermal analysis as a mechanical engineer before realizing that my true passion was software engineering. I made the transition at my first employer and haven’t looked back since.

I made this blog so that others on a similar journey can take advantage of the lessons I’ve learned and the research I’ve done. My goal is to cut through a lot of the marketing-speak and clickbait that exists out there and deliver the information you need as clearly and precisely as possible. I know something like this would’ve been helpful when I was starting out so my hope is that it saves you some time!
