Why I’m writing this blog
I created this blog after transitioning my own career to Software Engineering. I spent a lot of time thinking about the topics that will be presented in the following series of posts and was frustrated that no one had laid them out simply, clearly, and with a minimum of ads 🙂. My background was in mechanical engineering, but my intent is to make this blog useful for everyone, even if have a non-STEM background, even if you’ve never written a single line of code.
What to Expect
This site will focus primarily on the career planning aspects of your foray into the tech industry. Think of it as a guide for each subsequent step you take. I’ll cover approaches you can take to transition your career, how to get noticed by recruiters, and what to do once you’ve found your first full-time job. My hope is that I can create a community of career-switchers and provide a helping hand to those getting started.
How to Read This Blog
The posts will be numbered in an order that generally corresponds to the steps one might take as they begin their career change. However, most of the posts can also be read in a standalone fashion. The topics will be fairly self-contained so feel free to jump around!
